TARGET GROUP AND RELEVANCE
Aimed at audiences 12 and up, Scope of the Universe blends science, philosophy, documentary, and cinematic animation into an epic journey through the cosmos. Inspired by the immersive storytelling of modern cinematic games and expansive fictional universes, the series taps into a generation’s love of exploration, mystery, and discovery. Aiming to transform that curiosity into a deeper fascination for the wonders of our real universe.
For today’s young generation, space is no longer distant science fiction, it is becoming part of the real world they will inherit and help shape. They are growing up in a time where humanity is returning to the Moon, searching for life beyond Earth, and turning space into both a frontier of discovery and a new arena for conflict. In an age of climate crisis, misinformation, and division, Scope of the Universe offers wonder, perspective, and a sense of connection, inviting young audiences to imagine not only what is out there, but what kind of future we want to create within it.
Inspired by the impact that Carl Sagan’s Cosmos, Walt Disneys’s Tomorrowland and the 90’s philosophical novel Sophie’s World had in its time, we aim to create the same mind-blowing and transformative journey, that speaks to today’s young audience.
We have tested with our concept several times on different age groups, 9-18. Through target group workshops and pitching. We have not mentioned for them what our main target group is. And they have all felt it has been for them. Witch indicates strongly that this series will be relevant for a wide range of young audiences. Below are some quotes from our target test groups.
The astronaut is designed to be universal. The astronaut can be anyone, from anywhere. We never actually see their face or mouth, which makes the series incredibly easy to dub. We can adapt the voice, language, and gender to fit any local market perfectly.
Furthermore, the series is completely apolitical and non-religious. This makes the content universally relatable, no matter where in the world it is shown.
Scope is also built to be a long-running brand. Once we are done with space, we can turn our focus inward. We can explore biology in Scope of the Body, or human psychology in Scope of the Mind
“I like that its makes us think for ourselves
- we are always told what to do””
It can be a challenge to make a series about astronomi and space today, as the delevelopment is moving so quickly. Here are a few words from our head of science, astrophysicist Eirik Newth.
